Kolkata Wins Award for Solid Waste Management.

Alongside 10 urban cities, Kolkata is the main Indian city to get the prestigious prize. The honors were declared amid the C40 Mayors Summit held in Mexico City. Different urban communities that won the honor are Addis Adaba, Copenhagen, Curitiba, Sydney and Malborne, Paris, Portland, Seoul Shenzhen, and Yokohama.In India, just the city of Kolkata  has got this honor . The Waste management  project involved door to door collection of solid waste, segregation and recycling by way of compositing which is sold in the market.Local ragpickers played a big role in this acitivity.
